Hi,
It took awhile, but finally we are able to announce 7 new bands.
We are proud to announce AT WAR from Thrashington Beach (USA). They will play an exclusive German show. Old School Thrash Metal at its best.
GRAILKNIGHTS from Grailham-City will keep on fighting their battle against Dr. Skull with their Melodic Death Metal also at the W.O.D.
MASTER (CZ) are entering the stage at the W.O.D Festival for the second time with their Old School Death Metal.
MOSHQUITO from Germany will also show up in Lichtenfels and present you their Death Trash Metal.
NEGATOR formed in 2003 in Hamburg will present their merciless Black Metal to you.
The Swedish Death Thrash Metal Legend is back!! THE CROWN will enter the stage too at the W.O.D. Festival. With a new singer, but in their old strength.
And the last band for today is VENDETTA from Germany with their 80’s Old School Thrash Metal.

Way of Darkness 4 has already become history again and the time has come to take stock.
We are proud to look back upon a successful WOD 2009 and a festival schedule that ran smoothly.
Therefore we want to thank you at this point!
Many thanks to all bands and their managements for the awesome gigs and the great collaboration, as well as to all hands and companies, for once again excelling themselves, not sparing any work and working together also behind the scenes!!!
Special thanks go to the security, the pit security including Mille and Thomas and their teams, the catering team which once more provided the bands with excellent food, and all the stagehands which did an outstanding job as well.
Furthermore we want to thank the city of Lichtenfels, their public authorities and the close-by clubs for the good cooperation.
Last but not least a special thanks to you, all visitors and fans of our festival; with an average of 2800 Visitors per day you showed us, that our work and effort was not to no purpose.
THANK YOU!
Unfortunately there have been some things that upset organizer and visitors, which we think should be mentioned as well:
1. We still got some small (but very big ones as well) pigs among us! How is it possible, that only the road sweeper collected 2,5 tons of rubbish on the parking space on front of the hall and the parking spaces and streets around it and the garbage bins we had put there were almost empty?
And why does a camping ground after the festival look like it has been hit by a bomb, while we had put a huge Dumpster and sufficient garbage bins nearby?
The expenses that arise each year are extremely high and have to be considered for the next years calculation. We are wondering if you really want to accept rising prizes for the tickets just because of this garbage problem. Our opinion on that: NO!
2. Another unlovely subject is placed on the camping side as well: Stolen items out of closed tents as well as the theft of a whole (already build up!!) tent. This problem does not only exist at WOD but also on other festivals. This year we tried to solve this by permanent presence of security-unfortunately without success! We are very sorry about that and would like to ask you to keep your eyes open in the upcoming festival season and to show some courage if you notice something suspicious. To look the other way has been “out” for a long time already!
3. The sadest part of it all is how some people treat our voluntarily working staff cleaning the toilets. It can’t be tolerated, that people working for hygenie and cleanliness are attacked in the most horrible manner, robbed (donations from grateful adn honest visitors were stolen from the bowls and instead beer was poured) and in the end are even attacked physically, so we had to ask our security to take care to make sure they are safe. This can neither be accepted nor tolerated! For the future we reserve the right to take legal steps.
Well, enough of the not so good part, cause as we already said we’re looking back upon a successful and really nice Way of Darkness 2009 which gives some ideas for 2010.
Because one thing is certain for the 5th anniversary :We are settling down and from 1st of october 2010 till 2nd of october 2010 one more time 30 bands will guarantee a kick-ass-weekend in Lichtenfels.
By that time our dispensing equipment will be proved and tested to permanent running and do not simply flake out while everybody’s trying to get the next beer. We will arrange more parking spaces and a bigger camping ground and all together we will make good use of the upcoming 11 months to present you an anniversary where everybody gets hie money’s worth!!
On this note another “Thank you” to everybody and we will keep you informed if there will be something worth knowing about.

From the ruins of the dearth metal bands Rebaelliun and Nephasth THE ORDHER (Braszil) was formed to conquer all stages in this world.
Besides a typical brazilian Krisiun influence A big part of Morbid Angel is notable, espacially in slow passages.
In the area around Rome extreme detah and black metal seem to flourish.
FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE is one of them, which dedicates itself to technical brutality in the style of bands as Hate Eternal or Origin.
A threatening dark is coming closer from sunny Italy: The quintett THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY combines impressively anger, overwhelming energy and big portion of aggression to a highly explosive mix of detah metal an hardcore.
Again we will have an band exchange with Ireland: WARPATH, established in 2005, is going to celebrate their death metal with us
Wolfchant special
At “Way of Darkness“ WOLFCHANT will be giving one of the rare special shows for the new album. For this reason they will welcome Ule Lulis (Rebellion, former Grave Digger) on the guitar and Michael Seifert (Rebellion) on vocals
A last band will be announced within the upcoming days.
Therefore 30 bands will be conquering the stage within 2 days!!

In the expanses of the infinite universe of death metal CANNIBAL CORPSE has become a legend long ago. Not only for the morbid musical legacy but also for their love to the szene in general.
“One of the reasons why we are in leading position within the szene nowadays is probably steadiness“ says bass player Alex Webster “We always tried to stay 100% death metal because we love this music. We always took younger bands on tour to give soething back to szene that has given so much to us. If somebody says we've bcome a legend it is because the szene is close to us since the beginning of our career.“
Independence and musical integrity are two principles DYING FETUS always lived for. Established in 1991 Dying Fetus managed to get themeselves to the top of extreme death metal and grindcoure. The band is known for perfect songwriting, that combines technical virtuosity with catchy song structures to create the ultimate mix of death metal,hardcore and grind.
SWEDISH OLD-SCHOOL DEATH FUCKING METAL
The swedish death band EVOCATION was founded in autum 1991 by Marko, Thomas and the brothers Kenttäkumpu.1992 they already recorded their cult demos, In the end of 1992 they had got themeselves the reputation of being one of the most interesting death metal bands in Sweden. Now it's the second time that they enter the Way-of-Darkness stage
The progressive death metal band OBSCURA was founded 2002 in Germany. They play a mix of death, trash, and black metal including progressive and technical elements.
20.04.2009 - Friday Head and Co-Headliner + 1 Band
Salve,
Vader founded in 1986 in Poland are one of the big Death Metal Acts. Their new album "XXV" will be released via Nuclear Blast before the Festival.
Marduk were founded in 1990 in Sweden. With their brutal Black-Metal they are going to enter Stage at WOD. In Autumn Marduk will release their 11th album.
Commom Grave are a Death Metal Band from Germany.

today we can announce five more bands.
Accu§er founded in the early eighties, are one of the first German Thrash Metal Bands.
Emergency Gate from Munich are doing a mixture out of Melodic Death Metal and Hardcore.
With a mixture of melodic Death and Black Metal, Graveworm from Italy will enter the stage.
Almost for 20 years on stage are Hate from Poland. The will present their Old-School Death Metal to you.
And the last band for today are Vomit The Soul from Italy with their Brutal Death/Grindcore.
The next one is the Full Of Hate – Extended Show with Amon Amarth (S), Obituary (USA), Legion Of The Damned (NL), Keep of Kalessin (NOR), Equilibrium (D), Hail Of Bullets (NL), Secrets Of The Moon (D) and Legio Mortis (D). The show will take place on the 03/27/2009 in Lichtenfels.

26.02.2009 - Bands - Location - Full of Hate

The Festival will take place from the 2nd to the 3rd October 2009 in Lichtenfels (Stadthalle)
Here are the first 6 bands for the WOD 2009.
Assassin (Germany) founded in 1983 will present their Old School Thrash Metal and bring you back into the 80s.
Malevolent Creation from Fort Lauderdale Florida (USA) founded in 1987 will bring their death metal to the WOD. With looking back on 10 albums, it should be a great show.
Maligant Tumor (CR) are a mix out of Crust, Motörhead and Venom. They will bring an explosive Rock’n’Roll show with groovy songs and funny lyrics to the WOD.
Old-School-Death-Metal will be brought to you from Vomitory (SWE). With 20 years of live experience the will definitely show you how death metal should sound.
Die Zwangsversteigerten Doppelhaushälften from Germany are playing a mixture out of Metal and Rock’n’Roll with german lyrics.
Absorb are also from Germany. Expect an energetic Death Metal Show.

we have managed to find a new headliner for Saturday. Gorefest will take the slot of Possessed and Warhammer the slot for Sadistic Intend. There is also a change in the Running Order. Sininster and Despondecy had to change slots. Sininster will now play on saturday and Despondency on Friday.

Salve!here now the official statements to the cancelation of Possessed.
We have been informed by Possessed that they can’t play the show, because Jeff is seriously ill and in hospital. We are also disappointed as many of you too, that Possessed can’t perform at the festival. But Jeff’s health stands at first place. We wish him all the best and that he gets well soon. Jeff and his band would like to apologize for the cancelation and hope to play here soon. We will inform you about a new headliner soon.

Sadly we have to announce that two bands had to cancel their appearance at the festival. Vomit the Soul had to cancel their show, because of job reasons. Mastic Scum can’t play, because their drummer felt sick an won’t be fine again till the festival . Both bands are sorry for that. Amagortis from Switzerland will take the position of Mastic Sum on Friday.

04.08.2008 - Billing change
Hi,Sadly Massacre won’t play the Way Of Darkness Festival. The band made the decision to play the last show in Wacken and to split up after that. Therefore Denial Fiend won’t play either.
But we already can present you a replacement . The already in 1985 founded POSSESSED (USA) will take the Headliner position on Saturday. This will be there only show 2008 in Germany. The second band will be Sadistic Intent (USA). They will close the show on Saturday with their Death Metal.
15.07.2008 - Shop - Venue
our new SHOP is online now. There you can buy tickets and merchandise for the festival. We also have strictly limited shirts in the shop. You can buy it with a ticket as package or just the shirt. Those shirts won’t be available at the festival.We have now found a place for the festival. It will be 60 km outside of Bamberg. We will post more details, as soon as all things are sorted out with the authorities.
17.06.2008 - Billing Complete
Napalm Death (UK):Napalm Death have revolutionized the extreme Metal with their legendary debut album "Scum". Now after 21 years, they are still an incredible live band and release one killer album after the other. At our festival they will play a double headliner show with Entombed.
Holy Moses (D):
Holy Moses are playing pure Thrash Metal, since their foundation in the early eighties.
06.05.2008 - MASSACRE, DENIAL FIEND and FASTBEAT SUPERCHARGERS added
The old school death metal-heads MASSACRE from Florida will headline the Saturday night of this year's WOD. The band has been founded in 1984 by Kam Lee (ex-Death). Line-Up for WOD: Kam Lee (Death), Terry Buttler (Six Feet Under, Death), Steve Swansen (Six Feet Under), Sam Williams (Dawn By Law, Pseudo Heros), Curt Beeson (Nasty Savage).DENIAL FIEND (USA) from Tampa / Florida have been founded in 2006 and mainly consist of members of Massacre. Their music can be described as horror-metal containing thrash, death and hardcore elements.
Are you keen on catchy speedrock'n'roll? Then you will love the FASTBEAT SUPERCHARGERS (D). The four guys will rock this year's WOD. So be prepared for a highspeed rock'n'roll show. The Superchargers are like Chuck Berry on speed.
30.04.2008 - 6 new bands confirmed
We are pleased to announce six new acts for WOD 2008. BENEDICTION (UK) from Birmingham, one of the oldest death metal bands, are back with a new record called "Killing Music", which will be released before the festival is set to take place.Are you ready to sacrifice your own flesh for the art of death metal? NOMINON (S) from Sweden will especially appeal to fans of old school death metal.
We also bring you some German old school Thrash with the addition of CRONOS TITAN (D), founded in 1984.
MAGGOT SHOES from Germany will meet the needs of all the grindcore fans out there.
The death grind group ABBADON INCARNATE and the Gaelic doom heads MAEL MORDHA are both from Ireland and come to us by courtesy of our partners at the Irish DOD festival (www.dodfestival.com).
11.03.2008 - One more time, three new announcements!
1. HOLLENTHON (AT) will present their symphonic-black-metal sounds on Way Of Darkness III Festival! At the moment, the band records a new album, don't miss it.2. NEOCOSMIC (D) from Bamberg will do a very special show with a new singer in their hometown.
3. COMMANDER (D) - often compared with TESTAMENT and AT THE GATES. This aggressive mix of bay area thrash and scandinavian death metal, they will kick directly in your face!

04.02.2008 - First headliner and first cancelling
ENTOMBED will play on Friday and rule with their Death'n'Roll!Unfortunately, PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT have split up, and so they had to cancel their appearance at our festival once amore. But we will find a replacement!
Last but not least, CRIPPER from Hannover will haunt Bamberg with their thrasing madness!

30.01.2008 - 3 new bands to conquer Bamberg
And here are the next 3 bands:1. PRIMORDIAL (IRL) will present their new album "To The Nameless Dead".
2. ENDSTILLE have been founded in the year 2000. With 4 albums they are ahead of the German black metal scene.
3. MASTIC SCUM (AT) - founded back in 1992, they stick to their roots and still kick asses with a mixture of death and grind.

We wish all of you a heavy new year 2008! Stay heavy and have a big party.Today we can present 2 new bands. First, the old-school-death-veterans of ASPHYX (NL), who will blow your ears!
Second, the guys of PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT (NL) will do their gig, which had to be cancelled last year.

Hey guys!We are back with a new design. Furthermore, we will present the first bands for the third edition of the Way of Darkness festival at Christmas. There will also be a shop soon, where you can buy tickets, shirts, girlies and more.

17.09.2007 - Frankfurt Hahn airport to Bamberg and back
Hi.there is a bus running from Frankfurt Hahn airport to Bamberg. The bus leaves on the 4th October at 10 pm and drives back to Frankfurt on the 7th October. The roundtrip is 50 ?. If you are interested, send an E-Mail to ralph@wod-festival.de.
30.08.2007 - Delirium Tremens / Dismember / Running Order
Hi.“Delirium Tremens are going to play their last show with their drummer in Germany at the Way Of Darkness Festival. The drummer will leave the band.”
We heard rumours, that the cancellation of the European Dismember Tour, also affects the Way Of Darkness Festival. This is NOT true. “Dismember are definitely playing at the Festival!!!” The Show at our festival was never a part of the tour.
There is a change in the Running Order. Schistosoma are playing on Friday now and Mass Extinction on Saturday.
